Negotiating your salary offer
Know market rates, consider total compensation, and negotiate respectfully after an offer.
Salary · 5 min read
Research salary ranges on our Salaries page and similar roles on Job Hiring Point before the offer conversation starts.
Evaluate total compensation: base salary, bonus, stock, health insurance, leave policy, and remote flexibility — not just the headline number.
Wait until you have a written offer before negotiating. Express enthusiasm first, then ask if there is flexibility on salary or joining bonus.
Use data, not demands: 'Based on my research and the scope of this role, I was hoping for X — is there room to adjust?'
If salary is fixed, negotiate other benefits: extra leave, learning budget, or a review in six months.
